https://www.rothaarsteig.de/de/open-data-hub-touren/rothaarsteig-spur-dill-bergtour Today's tour took me once again along a Rothaarsteig trail. To be precise, the Dill Mountain Tour. The beginning of this tour is, in our opinion, quite modest. The first 2-3 km are on a popular bike path, but this is bearable, because after that, you turn left onto a small path and head off into nature. On a small path with currently overgrown broom, you cross fields, meadows, and paths, passing through forests and nature. The highlights of this tour are the views from all the hills and, without a doubt, the Tiefenrother Höhe. A viewing platform where someone has really put a lot of thought into it. A wooden platform with benches and a magnificent view. The mighty Lucas Oak and the Hauberg Trail are other notable sections that are definitely worth a look. Today's trails alternate between paths, forest highways, wide gravel paths, and, at the end, quite a few rutted forestry machine paths. And here we come to the only small drawback. From about km 12, you walk through deforested areas. As far as the eye can see, beyond your own path or the surrounding area, across all the surrounding mountain slopes and beyond, you can see deforested areas. It's sad, unfortunately, how much German forests have suffered. The highlights include pictures from the past, where the forest and vegetation were in full bloom. Now it's all gone. We hope that reforestation will make this an idyllic place again in a few years. We can also recommend this route today, although yesterday I found the Ilse Valley as a whole more beautiful. We even ended up taking a wrong turn because we were chatting so much, but it wasn't so bad. Have a nice Saturday everyone 🙋🏻♂️
Very beautiful Rothaarsteig trail in the idyllic Dill Valley
In short... A very nice route, I can absolutely recommend it! Worth every meter, varied, lots to see, simply a good route. I only had one problem with the route. When I navigate from home to a starting point using Google Maps, I usually rely on it blindly. This time, it navigated me directly to the Rothaarsteig, which can all seem a bit strange to me, until I reached a barrier and couldn't go any further. 🙈 Then I met someone who knew the area. She told me the best place to park was at the train station in Dillbrecht, from there it was only 200 meters to the trail. Next time, I would park directly at the Mühlenhof in Offdilln, where there's also a hiking portal.
At 8.5° today we tackled the Dill-Bergland tour. Unfortunately I didn't think about the fact that in Offdillen the internet only works on the mountain, but since the tour is excellently signposted it wasn't too bad for navigation.
Everything was fine today, so we started on the •Dill mountain tour• another ROTHAARSTEIG trail. The weather and the tour were just fantastic. https://www.rothaarsteig.de/de/content/download/696521/file/Rothaarsteig-Spuren%20alle%20circular hiking trails%20auf%20einen%20blick.pdf https://www.komoot.de/collection/1977762/-rothaarsteig-spur
Idyllic Dilltal and promising Rothaarkamm - you can combine both on the Dill mountain tour. On the way to the Rothaarkamm, you will cross the historic hill of Offdilln, which gives you exciting insights into this ancient form of forest management. The picturesque source of the Bocksborn invites you to take a break. Arrived on the ROTHAARSTEIG, you can enjoy magnificent views of the Lahn-Dill-Bergland and the Siegerland. The evening mood on the "Nase im Wind" viewing platform on the Tiefenrother Höhe has to be experienced, it cannot be described. The Haubergspfad on the Tiefenrotherhöhe gives an insight into the activities of the forest users. The rangers of the Landesbetrieb Wald und HolzNRW offer guided tours here on request. The Luca oak near the Forsthaus Steinbach majestically watches over the hikers. It has been stretching 27.5 meters into the sky for around 220 years now, supported on a 385 centimeter trunk. Impressive! Like the entire Dill mountain tour. https://www.siegen-wittgenstein.info/mobile/de/tour/wandern/rothaarsteig-spur-dill-bergtour/19614392/ The first tour of the Rothaarsteig tracks and my first stamp in the hiking pass ☺️ You can pick this up at the start and end point in Landhaus Mühlenhof. There is also a hiking car park here Unfortunately, the tour falls under: it must have been really nice here... The area here is so tattered and I have to say I think it looks worse here than the hiking areas at home... the only sections of forest that were intact were deciduous forest and were therefore not really inviting at this time of year. Otherwise battlefields with mediocre road conditions. I haven't seen so much barren gray in a long time. Frightening what has become of the beautiful highlights. It doesn't matter, I have the first stamp 🥾 In any case, it is positive that the tour is so well marked that you could easily walk without navigation
But no "relaxing" as described yesterday! No, we still had to go again! .. But now finally..! 😴😴 See you soon, your Bruno 🐾🐾 https://www.rothaarsteig.de/de/Outdooractive-Touren/rothaarsteig-spur-dill-bergtour
On the way on the Rothaarsteig trail, we explored the mountains around Dillbrecht and the Kalteiche today. It was a nice tour, varied path conditions and a great view, only the last 2 km to Dillbrecht were quite dry and boring, as it was flat on a wide, solid path back.
