Wehinger Viezpfad, what can I say? I set out today with good friends to finally "work through" this trail, and it's one of the most beautiful I've ever walked! Along the way, I often wondered why I waited so long to do it. This trail has so many amazing views, narrow paths, beautiful beech forests, and is super well signposted and, above all, well maintained. There were trash cans at the rest benches that were actually being used! Conclusion: absolutely recommended, and we'll see you again in the fall at the latest 👍👌🙏🍀
Our Sunday tour went to Wehingen near Mettlach today. There isn't that much to report, but a few sentences 😊 There is a Regiomat right at the starting point, you can also buy Viez there to match the path 😊 we quickly exchanged it for the normal wine we had with us, you have to adapt 😉 The hike starts really well, you walk through a forest or rather a jungle, the trees are full of moss which also shines great in the sun's rays. At a vantage point we were able to see or hear a few tractors with appropriate music to match the carnival. We continued to a beautiful hut, perfect for the Viez test 😉 Unfortunately, the path after that is not bad, but there is nothing more to see and the path is really not easy to hike, so we were rarely so floored after a path at the end, you could almost say the Zugspitze is easier 😉 But everyone sees things differently, we wish you all a great (remaining) carnival.
A really very nice tour .. very varied .. there is always something new to discover .. yes, the house and the story of the seamstress was mega interesting .. According to our information, a woman (Margarete) once lived in this house in the western Saarland with her husband (Johann * 03/29/1876 - + 01/22/1960) and her mother. Unfortunately, not much is known about the latter. Only documents in the house point to her and the consequences of the war. The couple who owned the house lived in very simple circumstances. There was no bathroom or anything like that in the house. A small separate building in the garden was used for this. There are no heirs, which is the reason why a lot is still there where you left it during your lifetime. When you enter the house you feel an oppressive feeling. In this dark lost place you have the feeling that you are not alone. Especially in moments when the wind whistles through the broken window, you linger quietly and let the surroundings work on you, you think of how Margarete must have spent her last days there in solitude. Johann, a farmer, died in January 1960. His grave cross is still in the cellar of the house today. (It is now in the bedroom !!) Documents from 1948 tell of the war and the damage the family suffered. Another family is mentioned there who, according to the documents, "died shortly after the expulsion". What is meant is the persecution of the Jews in World War II. When Margarete died there alone in 1978, there were no heirs who wanted to look after the house, which is the reason why a lot is still there where she left it during her lifetime. Among other things, items of clothing that still seem to hang untouched in the walls today.
Today we're out and about with 3 hiking friends and 3 dogs on this absolutely great hike, which is definitely tough. Currently particularly suitable for the theme with the ripe apples.
Net time: approximately 3:40 hours Today was my second time hiking this dream loop. While I still have absolutely positive memories of the first few kilometers, I had filed the rest of the route away from the "do it once" category. This shows how wrong you can be and what a role the weather plays. While the first time I did it in April three years ago, it was still cool, very windy, and not very green, today you could walk the trail in a T-shirt in beautiful sunshine. After yesterday's rain, everything was lush green, and the meadows were colorfully dotted with various flowers. A truly delightful hike with a varied, challenging route.
When I drove to Cloef on Friday, I saw the beautiful apple trees. There were hardly any hanging around our home this year. So we decided to go to this area today.
A beautiful hiking trail past apple, pear and plum trees... It's easy to walk even when the sun is 32 degrees, as most of the trail leads through the forest. Nice resting places to take a break and enjoy. After ascents always grandiose prospects / views. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring good physical condition 😉 And no,.... We didn't take a shortcut, we did the complete hiking trail 🎉
Upon arrival at today's A, we had already completed quite a few A's: A5, A67, A6, A8 🛣️😮💨 For a while we ponder back and forth whether the A num is really a 🅿️ but then we leave the car 🚙 in the middle of the Doefplatz 🫣 and set off 🏁 For the first three kilometers, the path is an optical treat, small paths through mossy forest, wonderful 😍 Acoustically there is room for improvement, the neighboring federal road slightly spoils the fun for us 🙉 We cross the federal road and from then on it is an absolute delight 😍 The Hiking Institute says: 'Through varied forest, one is guided on this path and through very beautiful orchards, whose fruit provides the raw material for the "Viez", the apple wine. Picturesque views as well as beautiful water sections in the area of the Tünsdorfer Bach are just as much a part of the natural beauties as smaller rock formations.' The Premium Trail is rated with 80 experience points and runs 89% on natural or lightly paved paths 😳 The tour today quite thrilled us 👌 We saw great orchards, learned a lot about Viez, and hiked through magnificent beech forests 🌳 😍 🌳 We were particularly impressed that where the path leads through orchards 🍎 🍏 🍐, the hiking trail was mowed, that doesn't happen every day either 🤗 We really liked the start of our Saarland trip. Very satisfied, we check into our pretty holiday apartment and reward ourselves for the quite challenging opening tour with an excellent dinner at the Weinpost restaurant 😋 A great start to our short trip to Saarland 🤗
