Hiking

Right at the end of the valley in Kleinarl they glitter in competition with each other - the turquoise-blue Jägersee and the legendary Tappenkarsee. One slumbers peacefully in the valley, the other requires you to climb a few meters in altitude before you can admire it in all its glory. On this tour you will experience them both up close - two in one go, so to speak.

It starts at the hiking car park at Jägersee, which you can get to either by car or by hiking bus (wagrain-kleinarl.at/de/aktivitaeten/wandern-berg/wanderbus). Once you arrive, the crystal-clear mountain lake is the first of many highlights that await you on this tour. First along the lake shore, then always next to the Kleinarlbach, you complete your first few kilometers to the car park at the Schwabalm. This is where the somewhat more strenuous part of the hike begins and thus the actual ascent to Tappenkarsee.

The path is easy to walk. The forest through which you first hike is almost magical. The views that await you are simply spectacular. A good bit further out of the valley you can even see the Jägersee and the starting point of your hike again. Also at your side: a waterfall that plunges powerfully into the valley and has its peaceful beginning - exactly - at the wonderful Tappenkarsee. You will reach this after several bends, a short stretch over the idyllic saddle and finally crossing a small wooden bridge.

In summer, one or two brave hikers plunge into the (extremely) cool water up here and then stretch out on one of the massive wooden benches on the lake shore. Others can't walk fast enough to one of the two rustic huts. Before heading back down the same way to the valley, a typical snack and a refreshing drink are a must.

A wonderful excursion, highly recommended to everyone. After a somewhat strenuous climb on a well-maintained path, you can enjoy a wonderful panorama. There is also an alpine pasture and a hut, both serving food, very close to the lake.

We were very lucky again today, we had just got back on our feet when it rained very hard. Still 3 km to go to the car in the rain, we met very sweet Austrians who took us to the car 🤗 We were so happy 🥰

For today I chose something calmer, because my feet hurt a bit 🙈 and it was still very thundery in the morning...

And since I like mountain lakes anyway, I spontaneously put this tour together 🤗

I really liked it too and both lakes are beautifully embedded in a fantastic setting 🤩 the Tappenkarsee in particular is a force that …

The Tappenkarsee is a mountain lake in Salzburg in the Radstädter Tauern mountains at approximately 1,762 meters above sea level. We had to climb about 700 meters before the wonderful panorama of the idyllic lake and the surrounding snow-capped mountains opened up. It couldn't be more beautiful.

As soon as we reached the top, the sun showed itself at times. The snow gave the whole thing its own special charm. Unfortunately, the last half hour was in drizzle again.

We hiked from Jägersee to the Tappenkarseehütte. A very beautiful hike. Unfortunately my cell phone battery didn't last, so the whole way back wasn't recorded.

Super hike through impressive landscape with great views of the waterfall. Which is fed by the Tappenkarsee - right at the top, as a reward for a long climb, the lake is fantastic in a wonderful landscape. Must see!
The tour can also start from the Tappenkarsee car park, then via a piece of the toll road (€6, summer 2023). …

Today's destination was the Tappenkarseehütte. The plan was to drive past the Jägersee to the Schwabalm and from there uphill. After yesterday's storm there was a mudflow and so we had to walk from Jägersee 🤪🫣 Okay, one thing in advance....we managed the additional distance in just 45 minutes...given 1.5 hours 🤣 the ascent was like always exhausting, but the …

From Jägersee to Tappenkarsee ..... Over 700 meters high, then swim (simply brilliant) and then down again. My daughter (14), my son (4), Jana and Jens were there.
