The small but scenic Robinsons Island is linked to the mainland by a high sand dune and a 3.5-kilometre (2.2 mi) gravel path. Depending on the season, the access road from the mainland’s Brackley Beach Complex may be closed. In these cases, the only way to reach Robinsons Island is by walking this route.
The trails on Robinsons Island take you through impressive greenery to dreamy stretches of beach. The loop first visits several viewpoints overlooking the Gulf of St Lawrence. After enjoying the sea vistas, you’ll walk across the island, where beautiful lupins bloom from May to August. You’ll continue through fields and forests to another observation point and a beach at Rustico Bay.
From there, a path lined with wild roses leads into the forest and back to where you started, near Brackley Beach, a favourite with day trippers thanks to its fine sand and proximity to Charlottetown.
