Trail Reviews

Hinter dem Horizont
August 8, 2021, Distelhäuser Bierwanderweg

Today, for once, was all about beer 🍺 The regions of Mainfranken and Tauberfranken are better known for their wine, but we can also do beer 😉 Distelhausen is located in the Taubertal, less than 30 minutes by car from Würzburg. The small village is quaint and absolutely beautiful. You wouldn't really expect a large brewery here, but it's actually in the middle of town. It all started at St. Markus Church, near which the first information board on the topic of beer is located. After crossing the Tauber, we went briefly into the forest until we reached the vineyard. Yes, you can hardly escape wine ... even on a beer trail 😂 Between grapevines and forest, the path gained height and offered a beautiful view of the valley with the towns of Lauda and Gerlachsheim. Another information board reported on the malting barley, which is obtained directly from the region. Soon the weather cross came into view, which I had already visited during the Taubertal Panoramaweg 2020. The location within sight and earshot of the autobahn is not great. And today's wind was pretty uncomfortable up here. Regardless, the place offered a place to rest for a short break. The way back to Distelhausen led along a sunflower field for a long time 🌻So beautiful, even if they turned their heads in the direction of the sun. Past corn fields, the path led back down into the valley. A small fountain was waiting here, which was dripping sadly in front of it, and right next to it was a bee showcase. The hustle and bustle at the entrance was just a foretaste of the bustle inside. Totally fascinating! Between the edge of the forest and orchards, the place was soon reached again. And of course the route marks the hiking trail to the brewery, the restaurant and beer garden on the premises of the brewery 😉👍 You rarely get your beer so fresh! 🍻 (If someone sees the hike as an advertisement for Distelhauser beer, that's fine. But I paid for my beer myself very well) Please visit my outdoor and travel blog https://hinter-dem-horizont.com

A "walking tour" (less than 10 km) from the hiking brochure "Lovely Tauber Valley." Highlights/Notable features: - Distelhausen - Landscape in the Tauber Valley - Wetterkreuz (Weather Cross) Paths: Asphalt at the start and end in the village. Otherwise, wide farm roads, most of them with a good grassy strip in the middle. Refreshment options: - Restaurants in Distelhausen Rest areas (tables and benches): - None Parking: A few spaces along the main road. The situation is better at the sports field.

Today I discovered and took on a great hiking tour via Komoot - a real surprise right near me! I would never have thought that such an impressive route could be so close. I was really impressed by the tour. The paths were varied, consisting of asphalt and forest paths. The path repeatedly led along the edge of the forest, opening up impressive views of the landscape. A special highlight was the weather cross. There you could enjoy a 360° panoramic view - a breathtaking moment that perfectly captured the entire vastness and beauty of the surroundings. I am very impressed by this hike and can only recommend it!

Unfortunately, on the lap you keep walking on coarse gravel, otherwise pure nature where the fox 🦊 and the hare 🐰 say "good night". The “final squat” was in the so-called beer garden, in the courtyard of the brewery. Radler was very good. We had expected more from the food there (both sausage salad and gravy were very slack. Even a few rounds with the pepper mill didn't do much.) 😏
