Hiking
The Ingraham Trail east of Yellowknife is one of the most picturesque tarmac roads in the Northwest Territories. One of the many highlights is Cameron Falls, which descends over 17 metres (56 ft). The trail that leads to the falls is an easygoing hike over approximately one and a half kilometres (1 mi).
From the car park, the 20-minute walk to the waterfall takes you through a varied landscape of lush mixed forest and open rocky passages. Follow the stone towers and blue markings through the forest, along the path, and up several flights of steps. Once you reach Cameron Falls, the bridge affords a 360° panorama of the wild cascades.
The hike is short, which gives you ample time to enjoy the natural pools at the foot of the waterfalls, and you can even do some fishing there if you wish. A picnic on the riverbank also tastes particularly good.
