Hiking
From rugged coastal landscapes to a white sandy beach with turquoise-coloured water, this hike showcases the diverse nature that characterises not only Taylor Head Provincial Park, but the whole of Nova Scotia. The trail explores the windswept peninsula that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean. Take a hat to protect you from the wind, and wear hiking boots to help you navigate the uneven terrain.
The hike starts at a car park at the end of Taylor Park Road, just 100 metres (330 ft) from the beach. Head straight to the bay to feel the sand beneath your feet and let your gaze wander out to sea, before following the coast towards Taylors Head. The return journey along the west side of the peninsula shows a rougher, wilder side to the coast.
The Headland Trail is the longest trail in Taylor Head Provincial Park. If you fancy something shorter, there are many more leisurely hikes to choose from, starting at just two kilometres (1.2 mi) in length. There are also several picnic areas in the park.
