Hiking

The 9-kilometre (5.5-mi) Cup and Saucer Trail is wonderfully calm and beautiful, despite being one of the most popular hiking trails in Ontario. The two different rock formations that can be observed in the dramatic cliffs (hence the name ‘cup and saucer’) date from the Silurian Period, around 400 million years ago.

The hike leads through mixed deciduous forests with incredible views of Manitoulin Island and Lake Huron. Manitoulin has over 10,000 inhabitants, more than a third of whom are members of the Anishinaabe First Nations peoples. Manitoulin Island is believed to be a spiritual place, and the trail has held significance to Indigenous people for thousands of years.
If you are looking for a bit more of a challenge you can take the Adventure Trail, a 500-metre (0.3-mi) section featuring ladders and narrow paths through dense forest. The trail is particularly beautiful in autumn.

Very worthwhile tour. Stunning views over Manitoulin Island. Hiking shoes an absolute must. In my opinion, not suitable for children under 6 years of age, better from 10 years of age. Many columns and stones. There are 3 different lengths. The Adventure Trail is dangerous and should only be taken by experienced hikers/climbers. Most of the trails are beautiful forest …

Picture no. 6 is a chewing gum tree, everyone sticks his chewing gum to it and doesn't spit it around. I found a good idea.

In the early afternoon, we drive from Mindemoya Lake, where we are staying overnight, on Highway 551 and from M'Chigeeng on Highway 540 to the generously sized parking lot for the Michigiwadinong Cup and Saucer Trail.
The circular hike offers breathtaking views over the island with its colorful forests and numerous small lakes. We walk for several kilometers on the …
