Did you know that the Great Plön Lake is the largest body of water in Schleswig-Holstein? The approximately 37-kilometer-long route takes you around the beautiful lake and right through the picturesque landscape of Holstein Switzerland.
From Plön, the tour takes you along picturesque riverside paths, through idyllic places such as Bosau, Dersau or Ascheberg and past wide fields and meadows. You often cycle away from traffic, so you can relax and enjoy nature while immersing yourself in the life and culture of the region. Perfect for a break in the saddle!
Your tour is rounded off by the beautiful places to stop for a break with their culinary temptations that lure you away from the path. How about a homemade cake in the old castle gardens of Plön Castle? Or a fish sandwich to go in one of the fish smokehouses? But just let yourself be surprised: whether it's a restaurant, bistro or café - the friendly hosts will spoil you to the best of their ability.

Uploaded the GPX file, adjusted it in komoot, changed direction and saddled up the chickens.
I remembered riding via Plön back then, but now I'm doing the lap via Ascheberg. Hardly anything has changed.

The tour around the Great Plön Lake is our ultimate tour - it goes around the largest lake in the country for almost 40 km. The tour runs along beautiful shore paths, through pretty villages and wide fields and meadows. We recommend the towns of Plön, Bosau …

Overall, the route isn't bad, but I imagined it would be nicer.
Why?
1. You can't see the lake at all for most sections of the route because the path is too far away from it, through the forest or residential area.
2. Very long sections run over coarse/hard gravel (see path condition), which is quite bumpy
