Fanes Tour

This challenging but scenic circular tour takes you into the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park. Impressive rock formations, picturesque alpine pastures, rustic huts and 1,400 meters of altitude await you. Be careful on the very steep pushing or carrying section down to the Capanna Alpina.

You start in St. Vigil, from where you follow the Tamersc cycle path along the stream through the forest. It is a moderate climb to the Pederü hut, then it gets steeper. You reach the tree line, pass the small Piciodel lake and then the wonderful Fanesalm lies before you: fantastic views of the Dolomites, cozy mountain huts and other lakes await you.

From the alpine pasture you climb up to the Limojoch with the Limosee, the highest point of the tour. Then you go through the Great Fanestal - one of the most beautiful high valleys in the Alps! After a flat trail to the Col de Locia, a difficult trail descent to the Capanna Alpina begins - here you may have to dismount and carry your mountain bike. From the Capanna Alpina, you roll down to St. Kassian in a relaxed manner and then ride along the Val Badia cycle path to Zwischenwasser. A little later, you are back in St. Vigil.
