Cycling

The hop loop begins in Tettnang. From here you head north to Hopfengut No20, where you can take your first break, eat something, drink something and admire the hop plantation. The tour then takes you south.

Past meadows, fields and through shady forests you reach Laimnau and the Argen river. You follow it to Lake Constance and turn off there to Langenargen. The picturesque town on the lake is also an inviting place to take a break, and Montfort Castle is particularly worth a visit.

You then ride along the Lake Constance cycle path to Friedrichshafen. From here the route then takes you back to Tettnang, where you reach the starting point of the tour again.

There is a lot to experience at the Hopfengut: In addition to the brewery, you will also find a museum here. You also have the opportunity to stock up on beer in the shop and treat yourself to food and drink in the restaurant. The viewing platform from which you can look out over the hop fields is also great.

You can find more information about the Hopfengut at hopfengut.de and echt-bodensee.de/gastronomie/hopfengut-ndeg20-die-gaststaette-aba703f8a0.

It's nice to see how much hops are grown. We met a nice lady who explained to us how the cultivation and harvesting works.

Montfort Castle

Highlight • Castle

„The magnificent ruin of Montfort, situated on a headland – the most beautiful I have ever seen.“ This is how Annette von Droste-Hülshoff describes the Montfort ruin in one of her letters, which was, however, demolished in 1861 to make way for a „fairytale castle“.

Built in 1866 in the Moorish style, Montfort Castle is the magnificent landmark of Langenargen. Situated on a small peninsula in the lake, it is today a place for dreaming, celebrating, dining, and enjoying.

Wonderful tour through the hop country with a short visit to Lake Constance. Ideal with the e-bike, as it is hilly.

This year's green gold harvest began around August 20th in the hop gardens around Tettnang. Before the harvest after approx. 4 weeks in the second largest growing area in Germany (Hallertau, BY, largest area), I went on the hop loop around Tettnang. The starting point was the Tettnang-Neuhäusle WP at Hubi's herb garden, I rode anti-clockwise, which means that at …

Marion and Heinz had a week's vacation at Lake Constance.
During our 5 bike tours we covered a total distance of 240 km.
We recorded three tours with Komoot.

On this tour we drove from Gohren in the direction of Friedrichshafen along Lake Constance. Then it went into the hinterland towards Tettnang. You drive past orchards and hop fields again …

Today I was able to check off one tour on my to-do list. The Hop Loop was pretty high on it.
I set my starting point in Friedrichshafen and cycled counterclockwise to Langenargen before heading into the hop-growing region. I used the stop at the Hop Museum to rehydrate, but not with coffee this time.

Wonderful bike tour with a few inclines and wonderful views.
In the summer of 2021, a section of the cycle path on the left bank of the Argen was closed. But the right side is also beautiful.

Last 🚲 tour on Lake Constance 😹. Today the "Hop Loop" was on the agenda. From Langenargen, we drove through the Eriskircher Ried region toward Friedrichshafen. From there, we took the turnoff to Tettnang and the New Palace, one of the most important palaces in southern Germany. The Hop Trail led us through the town's market to "Hopfengut No. 20" …
