Hiking

Round tour with a great view and impressive view of the surrounding Tannheimer Berggruppe - Rot Flüh, Gimpel and Köllenspitze.

The hike to the Füssener Hütte or Otto Mayr Hütte with a descent over the Gessenwangalm (not managed) runs on simple mountain trails.

Directions:
Starting from Grän with the 8-seater gondola lift to the Füssener Jöchle. The starting point of the hike is the top station / Sonnenalm, from there it continues to the Raintaler Joch.

The descent follows slopes to the Füssener Hütte and / or Otto Mayr Hütte. Here you will find a rich wildlife and alpine flora, ideal places to relax. From the Otto Mayr it goes a short distance back on the same route, then on the way west the ascent to the Hallergehrenjoch begins, from here the descent runs past the Gessenwangalm (not managed).

The last part goes back on the forest path to Grän to the valley station / lift parking lot of the 8-seater gondola lift.

Tip:
Refreshments and overnight stays are available both at the Füssener and at the Otto Mayr Hütte. From both huts you will find an extensive network of trails, with hiking, climbing and summit routes.

Here you can cross the yoke, either descend towards the Tanheimer Tal or on the other side towards the Füssener Hütte. The ridge path over the yoke is easily manageable except for the Schartenschrofen, after which it continues on the Friedberger via ferrata. In the other direction to the Sonnenalm / gondola, the more difficult passage over the Läuferspitze can also be avoided on easier paths.

The weather report: wet until 9:00 a.m., then dry and rain again from 5:00 p.m. We used the time in between for a solitary lap around the Läuferspitze. The visibility was only great in parts, in between there was fog and: jacket on, jacket off, vest on, vest off :-). The first ascent over a mountain highway along the gondola, …

Blue sky, sunshine! The weather forecast held this time and so we set off, first in the direction of Adlerhorst above the Haldensee up to the Schrotenspitze.

Over the ridge with a wonderful panoramic view, it went down into the valley towards the Füssener hut and Otto Mayer hut.
The latter was our goal, as in previous years, but when …
