Gravel riding

This 52-kilometer gravel tour takes you to the Trudner Horn Nature Park. The protected area south of Bolzano is characterized by a diverse range of flora and fauna. So there is a lot to discover.

You start your adventure directly at the train station in Neumarkt and ride through the Castelfeder biotope onto the Fiemme Valley railway line, which has been converted into a cycle path. You follow it, climbing moderately, through stunningly beautiful slopes with vineyards and orchards, to the Trudner Horn Nature Park.

At the highest point of your tour, the rustic Krabes Alm welcomes you and invites you to enjoy Kaiserschmarrn. You've earned some refreshment, then it's time to head downhill. Shortly before you return to the starting point of the tour, you cross the Fiemme Valley railway again and with it the spectacular viaduct - a good moment to pause again before the tour comes to an end.

Fleimstalbahn Viaduct

Highlight • Bridge

If you like cycling on railway cycle paths, you should remember this highlight. I only rode a section. The Val di Fiemme railway, a narrow-gauge railway, existed from 1917 to 1963. It connected Predazzo in Val di Fiemme with Auer in the South Tyrolean lowlands. The viaduct is great. You cycle around the viaduct on an asphalt cycle path and then cycle under it with an incredible gradient. Good brakes are a prerequisite for completing the downhill ride safely.

After an initial stretch in the woods, after about half the journey we immerse ourselves first in the vineyards, and immediately afterwards in the 🍏 apple orchards.

Passo di San Lugano

Highlight • Mountain Pass

Pass that takes its name from the small church ⛪️ of the same name, along the old railway that connected the Val di Fiemme to the Val d'Adige.
