The Nat‘Our Route 1 starts in the border triangle between Belgium, Germany, and Luxembourg. The path runs along the Luxembourgish and German banks of the Our river. Literally in the heart of Europe, this hike begins. In the park of the European Monument, large cuboid stones symbolize the six founding members of united Europe. The location where this monument was erected was not chosen by chance. It is situated in the border triangle of Luxembourg, Germany, and Belgium. At the confluence of the Réibech and the Our, the three national borders meet.
The entire hike runs along the Our, whose valley quickly narrows and steepens towards the south. A short but challenging ascent leads to the Königslei, offering fantastic views over the valley. In the past, the Our river was home to thousands of freshwater pearl mussels. If you are lucky, you might see dragonflies shimmering in the sun and brown trout glittering in the crystal-clear water. Perhaps you will even spot a black stork.
