This route was planned by komoot.
Escaped the sea of fog and found the sun. What a gift of autumn days. The fog enveloped me until Schönengrund, but the sky cleared up just in time and the blue shone down from the sky. The sun was shining, so that it almost got too warm for me on the climb to Hochhamm on the wonderful circular tour. The circuit was very little used, although I was surprised that there were so many sun worshippers sitting on the terrace of the mountain inn. I looked for a quiet rest spot next to the summit and sat down in the meadow, where the sun could shine warmly through the leafless trees and warm me. What a pleasure. Beautiful, varied paths with a wonderful backdrop of the Appenzell hinterland and of course the dominant Säntis, which never ceases to amaze me.
The route does not always follow the official hiking trails. Sometimes across country also over scrub. At the top the view is very nice.
