Hiking

The hike from the Bezau cable car to the summit of the Winterstaude is an impressive tour with great views – scenically dreamy, but also demanding. You should have good stamina and be free from vertigo.

The Bezau cable car can be reached comfortably by car or by bus line 832 from Bezau. At the mountain station, the hike starts off in a relaxed manner. First, you follow the gentle ridge of the Niedere without major inclines. Afterwards, a steep ascent to the scenic Stongerhöhe awaits. The following ridge path over the Hasenstrick has an alpine character – narrow, partly exposed and secured with a steel cable. It leads directly to the summit of the Winterstaude, where you have earned a well-deserved rest with a fantastic all-round view.

The descent takes you via the Lingenaueralpe down to the Stongenalpe. From there, you continue without major altitude differences past the Stonger Moos via the Wildmoosalpe to the middle station Sonderdach. From there, you finally take the cable car comfortably back into the valley.

Stonger Heights

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Stongerhöhe is a viewpoint on the Niedere ridge. It offers plenty of space, with two long wooden benches for sitting and resting and enjoying the magnificent view. This viewpoint can be reached via three trails of varying difficulty: The trail over the Hasenstrick is marked in blue and white, well secured with wire ropes, but not particularly difficult (a head for heights is required). The trail over the Tristenkopf definitely requires surefootedness on the descent, and I'm not familiar with the third trail over the Niedere.

The path over the Hasenstrick is well secured with wire ropes. A head for heights is required, but the trail isn't rocket science; it's fun, and the views are simply beautiful!

Winterstaude Summit

Highlight • Summit

On the Niederekamm, the Winterstaude is probably the most popular peak. It also offers plenty of space to make yourself comfortable. The views are beautiful, as they are along the entire Niederekamm; simply fantastic! The ridge paths are somewhat narrow in places and require surefootedness and a head for heights, but there are also many wide and safe sections.

A hike with some nice, but also some not so great sections. It starts at the Baumgarten mountain station and leads over the Hasenstrick to the summit of the Winterstaude. The Hasenstrick requires surefootedness and a certain degree of agility, but is easily doable. Out of caution, I don't take dangerous paths and avoid risks. I had no concerns on …

A very beautiful trail. At the beginning, you'll think you're on a procession, but this quickly breaks up as the trails of the panoramic trail descend to the left. The Alpsteig isn't difficult, but it does require proper footwear, especially in wet conditions. At the Wildmooser Alps, there were only cold meals and cakes.

The ascent via the Hasenstrick (Alpine Trail) was challenging. This route is not to be underestimated. Good gear, surefootedness, and a head for heights are essential. The descent was almost boring, although the steep gravel path required concentration. Overall, a nice, varied route. On the way back, there are several alpine huts where you can stop for a bite to …
