Hiking

On the high-altitude hike from Piz Scalottas above Lenzerheide to Chur's local mountain Brambrüesch, you will enjoy a fantastic view, delight in multiple summits and will also be challenged by challenging hiking passages. Look forward to a 16-kilometer-long ridge hike at its finest.

The cable car ride from Lenzerheide to the 2,324-meter-high Piz Scalottas, your starting point, saves you a few meters of ascent and can get you in the mood for the panoramic tour. A varied high-altitude trail, which is exposed in places and secured with steel cables, takes you to beautiful panoramic peaks such as Piz Danis, Stätzerhorn and Fulhorn and hikes past Dreibündenstein.

On the ridge and above the trees, your view of the distance is never obscured and you can really get your fill of the panoramic view. At the last summit, the Furggabüel, you say goodbye to the 2,000-meter mark, descend into the forest and over the wild and romantic Malixer Alp you reach the cable car station that takes you down to Chur.

Piz Danis

Highlight • Summit

The ascent to Piz Danis is marked white-red-white, so good hiking boots, surefootedness and physical fitness are required. The exposed areas on the ascent are secured with fixed steel cables, which make the ascent or descent easier on the tricky passages. Once you have reached the summit, you will be rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view.

Dreibündenstein Monument

Highlight • Monument

The Dreibündenstein in Graubünden is an elevation at 2,156 meters above sea level south of the city of Chur and of the mountain Furggabüel, which lies at 2,174 meters above sea level. They are separated only by a 15-meter high saddle and 500 meters distance. The point is not a mountain peak, but a historical site. It was the sole triple border point of the former Free State of the Three Leagues. The original stone from 1722 is exhibited in the Rätisches Museum Chur. The replacement stone from 1915 bears the three coats of arms of the Three Leagues. The Three Leagues included the Grey League with the judicial community of Rhäzüns, the League of the Ten Jurisdictions from Churwalden, and the League of God's House from Ortenstein Castle.

Brambrüeschbahn mountain station

Highlight • Rest Area

The red gondola cabins of the Brambrüeschbahnen connect Chur's local mountain with the city. While the mountain station is the starting point or destination of many hikes, in the valley you are almost in the middle of Chur's old town, where you can be chauffeured back to your desired destination thanks to the good SBB connections.
