Großer Ahornboden

Highlight • Natural Monument

It is best to visit the Großer Ahornboden in autumn, when the maple trees change color. A wonderful natural spectacle! The visit is for the whole family. There are enough parking spaces, play opportunities for children and endless restaurants. You can also spend the night there and take day trips to the surrounding peaks. There is something for everyone.

Tip: The Alpengasthof also has a wellness area and a camp for hikers; 34 euros a night with breakfast and use of the sauna. 😊 That might be good, so in between on a multi-day tour!

Eng Alm Village

Highlight • Settlement

An idyllic alpine village located in the middle of the Karwendel Mountains and known above all for its traditional wooden houses and breathtaking alpine landscape. You can stop off at the historic Eng Alm at an altitude of around 1,300 meters and enjoy regional delicacies. Afterwards, you can explore the untouched nature and the majestic mountains on the surrounding hiking trails and mountain tours.

Hello, everyone,
At the end of the forest path to Enger Grund there is a wooden bridge that ends in a hiking trail. For mountain bikers the path does not lead any further. The cycle route to the Falkenhütte leads over the Johannistal! Officially approved MTB trails in Tyrol and in the Karwendel Nature Park can be viewed on the following website:
radrouting.tirol
Cycling is prohibited throughout Austria on forest, alpine and hiking trails, unless the paths are explicitly approved for cycling or a nature conservation permit and consent from the landowner has been obtained. On the one hand, there are liability reasons (if the worst comes to the worst), on the other hand, in a nature reserve such as the Karwendel Nature Park, compliance with these laws is also very important for other reasons (guidance for visitors, disruptive influence, damage to paths, etc.).
We therefore ask everyone on the part of the nature park to take this into account when planning the tour.
Thank you for your understanding - let's pull together and take responsibility for nature!
The Karwendel Nature Park team

Enger Grund

Highlight • Gorge

The immense north face of the Grubenkarspitze surrounds the Engen Grund in a semicircle. The rock faces rise almost vertically to over 1,000 meters. Snow avalanches that crash down the slopes in winter often remain in the shadow of the walls all year round. On the green slopes deep below the rock faces you have an excellent chance of seeing chamois.

Today is still acclimatization. So there was a second, small, shallow lap. It's so incredibly quiet here. And beautiful..

A second, shorter hike followed (... but this time really in the beautiful KARWENDEL 😂☝️!!):
I really wanted to go to the Great Maple Forest in the Eng (Hinterriß 🇦🇹) and enjoy the sight of the many brightly colored maple trees 😍.

A cozy little tour in scenic beautiful surroundings.

A hike which is not demanding. Children enjoy the calmly rippling river. Parents don't have to worry about their children.

Large parking lot available. A hotel offers accommodation and meals.

You can also do difficult tours.
The normal path is suitable for strollers, wheelchairs, crutches.
Soon there will be a snack bar …
