Stubai Seven Summits – Elfer

The Elfer is one of those mountains whose beauty can only be guessed at from a distance. The images that open up from afar are already extremely impressive, especially from Neustift, when the sunlight illuminates the peak in all its glory in the late morning. But only up close, when you're practically walking on it, can you truly appreciate the imposing rock towers of Neustift's local mountain in all their boldness. The starting point of the circular tour is the mountain station of the Elfer Panoramabahn cable car, which you reach from Neustift in the Stubai Valley.

The mountain, with its beautiful view of the glaciated peaks of the Stubai Alps, may also remind you of the Dolomites. Because the summit cross stands on the eastern Elferturm tower, you might think it's the highest point. This, however, is actually the Elferkofel, whose peak rises another six meters higher. That's not much, but the main peak still deserves to be called one. It stands there proud and magnificent, showing the incredible diversity of the Stubai Alps.
