Furcletta Tour via Hoernli

Mountain biking

The program of this demanding enduro tour, which starts and ends in Arosa, includes varied trails such as the Unterfürggli Twister and the Motta Express. But the icing on the cake is undoubtedly the Welschtobel Trail. This remote path is a true mountain bike jewel and a must for trail-hungry bikers.

But: No pain, no gain! Although you cover most of the altitude with mountain lifts, the remaining ascents are also challenging. The sections between Alp Sanaspans and Culmet, as well as the last stretch to the Furcletta Pass, are particularly tough – here you will have to push your bike uphill for a longer stretch or even carry it in parts.

Also note that a long descent awaits afterwards. If your strength fails during the ascent, you can also turn back and ride down to Chur via Lenzerheide. From there, the train and bus will take you back to Arosa.

The good thing is: You have three excellent refreshment stops along the way, the Hörnlihütte, the Panoramarestaurant Rothorngipfel, and the SAC-Ramozhütte, which are well distributed along the route. Feel free to take a break or two, refuel with local delicacies, and recharge your batteries for the onward journey, so you can fully enjoy this amazing tour.

Furcletta Pass

Highlight • Mountain Pass

The Furcletta is a 2,573 meter high mountain pass and is a source of both joy and sorrow for bikers. The reason: The descent through the Welschtobel is one of the most beautiful in Switzerland, but the ascent to the Furcletta is usually impassable and therefore causes a lot of sweat.

Welschtobel Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

After the beautiful alpine descent from the Rothorn, there is a climb of around 450 meters that is impassable, steep and extremely strenuous. But you haven't made it to the top yet; after a short descent, there is a second impassable, steep climb (around 80 meters) to the Furcletta. Once you're there, a loud hallelujah to the fantastic mountain world! What lies before you now is, in my opinion, the most beautiful, almost never-ending alpine descent that Switzerland has to offer 😍. But no pain, no gain!

Epic tour with several long pushing sections up and the most beautiful trail descent (10 km) in Graubünden. 🤙🏼

Some say this is the most beautiful trail in Switzerland. We thought it was simply epic! We treated ourselves to a few gondolas so we had more time to enjoy it and every second was worth it. The carrying sections are pretty tough, but no pain, no gain!

Last day of 14 days on trails. The motto is to give it your all one more time, so up to the Hörnli, down to Lenzerheide via Urdenfüggli and Pipe. Both trails are similar to the WU Trail on the Wexl or the Ollweite in Sölden. If you don't have any cornering technique yet, you'll learn it quickly or get …

I love Switzerland. Perhaps also because it is so staid and correct.

The bus 182 departs at 10:00:00. The bus driver sets my derailleur to the smallest cog and smilingly tells me that several derailleurs have already broken because the derailleur cage was pointing vertically downwards - in the BUS bicycle rack.
