Brough Lane

Highlight • Viewpoint

Absolute lung busting leg ruiner of a climb. Starts on draggy tarmac of fairly intense gradient and then switches to fire road style surface.

The middle section is brutally steep and really knocks the stuffing out of you but things ease off for the final stretch and the view back over the Hope Valley is a well-earned reward.

Dirtlow Rake Gravel Track

Highlight • Trail

Great off-road cut through from top of Bradwell to top of Winnats, which avoids losing all that hard-gained height. Rough surface though, so best for gravel or mountain bikes.

Abandoned Mam Tor Road

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

A falling apart old road with nice views, makes a descent climb on the gravel bike

Café Adventure

Highlight • Cafe

Cozy cafe and a nice place after a bike tour in the Peak District. Here's hot coffee, delicious cakes, crispy sandwiches and all in a really nice atmosphere. The walls are decorated with works by local photographers, so there's a bit of art too. The best part is that you are fully prepared for bikers, so you can feel really welcome here. The café is open daily from 9am to 5pm.

Hurstclough Lane

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Green lane begins easily enough but gathers interest as the surface deteriorates. Don't get sucked into the deep erosion gulleys and hit the numerous small drops with plenty of pace. Take your sunglasses off at the top though or you'll suddenly go blind when you enter the trees and line choice becomes rather more important. Great way to link Stanage to Shatton whilst Bamford Clough is still shut.
