A gorgeous beach with easy access from the city centre, Portobello beach boasts 2 miles (3.2 km) of golden sand which makes it a great spot for swimming and chilling out with friends.

There are lots of shops, restaurants and cafes along the promenade for refreshments and souvenirs. Don't miss the beautiful Georgian and Victorian architecture as you stroll, jog or cycle by.

Glencorse Reservoir

Highlight • Lake

Nestled amongst the Pentland Hills, Glencorse Reservoir is incredibly picturesque. It was built between 1820 and 1824 to provide water to mills in the area and supply drinking water to Edinburgh. Today, the reservoir still supplies water to 450,000 people. The reservoir was created by constructing a dam, which is 77 feet (23.5 m) at its highest point.

This is one of the best gravel trails for crossing the Pentlands. Great descents on both sides and a good gravel trail throughout.

Highly recommend this trail is included in your ride.
