Hiking

In just a few minutes, the Rosenalmbahn gondola takes you into the heart of the impressive mountain panorama of the Zillertal Alps. You can easily reach the valley station in Zell am Ziller by hiking bus or car. Crystal-clear springs, lush green alpine meadows and rough granite await you at the top. The physically demanding, almost eleven-kilometer tour to the Kreuzjoch begins and ends at the Rosenalmbahn mountain station.

At an altitude of 1,744 meters, follow hiking trail no. 10 to the left. The farm track leads to a small watering hole and the Sagbach spring, where you can refill your water supplies. The serpentines take you past the Legalalm and you gradually gain altitude.

After the mountain station of the Hanser X-PRESS and the green summer slopes, the hike leads over the mountain ridge. A highlight is the path to the summit of the Kreuzjoch, where surefootedness and a head for heights are required. After a few hundred meters, you finally reach the Kreuzjoch. Surrounded by rugged rock, you stand at an altitude of 2,558 meters on the highest and westernmost peak of the Kitzbühel Alps. Up here you have a fantastic view of the mountains of the main Alpine ridge. Close to the sky, you can feel the wind blowing around your nose.

You descend from the Kreuzjoch on the same route, hopefully with unforgettable impressions. If you haven't had enough yet, a stop at the Legalalm is highly recommended. Here you can enjoy the spectacular view of the Zillertal Alps with a snack and, if you like, cool your feet a little in the Kneipp pool. The Rosenalmbahn finally takes you back to Zell am Ziller.
