Hiking

This beautiful circular hike takes you past five "peaks"—well, at least by Münsterland standards. The Tannenbültenberg is a respectable 104.7 meters high, the Lünsberg measures 92.5 meters, the Fliegerberg reaches 84.7 meters, the Hövelsberg rises 83 meters, and the Dönersberg 90 meters. In this otherwise flat region, these are small…

Here you will find a very nice forest parking lot, and the hiking trails start right there. If you want to find the "woman in the forest" quickly, you should keep to the right after the stairs.

The imposing oak stands on the Lünsberg and behind it there is a wonderful view of Ramsdorf, which is surrounded by the green of the landscape during the vegetative period.

March 28, 2025,Naturpark Hohe Mark - Landstreifer DIE BERGE
Today I explored "The Mountains" for you. Well, not THE mountains, but the new "The Mountains" trail between Borken and Velen. On the nearly 14-kilometer circular hike, five peaks are waiting to be climbed⛰️🌳✨

Yeah, okay, maybe they're more like hills. But for the otherwise flat landscape of Münsterland, five consecutive peaks are certainly worth mentioning. And so the climbs …

You can find this wanderer between Borken and Velen. And why "The Mountains"? Well, because the beautiful spot there is actually called that and also includes five mountains in this region (Tannenbültenberg (104.7 m), the Lünsberg (92.5 m), the Fliegerberg (84.7 m), the Hövelsberg (83 m) and the Dönersberg (90 m)).
The view from the Fliegerberg is very beautiful, as …

Pure nature, the feeling of dunes and open landscapes, expansive forests, heath and tree pipits... and even Scottish Highland cattle – where can you find all that?

Welcome to "The Mountains" between Borken and Velen!

This is a beautiful tour.

I particularly liked the "Fliegerberg" (Flying Mountain), which takes its name from its former use as a gliding airfield.

This fairly new "Landstreifer" trail is something special. Wonderful to walk, varied paths and trails. Gentle hills (some with history). Mostly forest floor and sometimes sand under your feet. It is worth reading the information boards along the way. You can learn a lot about flora and fauna. We give this "Landstreifer" a straight A! 🥾🥾⚒️🌞🌞

Since this Landstreifer was actually too short for me and the journey would not have been worth it, I had set two additional waypoints in my planning at Gemen Castle and north of Heiden to extend the route to 31 km.
I decided not to do the loop towards Heiden from the start because my two weather apps had predicted …

This new trail has been officially open since 10:00 a.m. today. There was an organized hike from the Hohe Mark Nature Park, which we were already on our way to. This lovely information vehicle from the Hohe Mark Nature Park was parked at our parking lot today.
