Hiking

Right at the start of the tour you'll be heading high. With the Fellhornbahn you can climb around 850 meters in altitude in no time. After a short walk you will then reach the Fellhorn at 2,038 meters. From there you hike along the Fellhorn ridge, which runs along the German-Austrian border. On the way to the Söllereck you will be accompanied by a true flower paradise that will make the heart of every nature lover beat faster. It is not for nothing that the Fellhorn area is famous for its alpine rose blossoms.

After you have passed the Schlappoldeck, the descent becomes a little steeper until you reach the Sölleralpe. Here you can take a rest and enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains. After about six kilometers you will finally reach the Söllereckbahn, which will take you back to the valley. Since the start and finish are not in the same place, it is a good idea to take the bus from Oberstdorf to the two valley stations of the cable cars. Oberstdorf overnight guests can travel free of charge on the bus routes in the municipality with their Allgäu Walser Premium Card (Oberstdorf guest card).

Fellhorn Summit

From the Fellhorn, you have a fantastic 360-degree view. Actually, even better than from the Kanzelwand. Along the ridge path between the Kanzelwand and the Fellhorn, you can discover some truly stunning alpine flowers.

Fellhorn–Schlappolteck Ridge Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

A real tightrope walk between Austria on the right side and Germany on the left side.
Beautiful views of the Kleinwalsertal and on the other side in the Stillachtal and after Oberstdorf.
When the weather is nice, you have the full mountain panorama here!

A challenging, narrow trail along the German-Austrian border with fantastic views of the mountain giants and valleys! Below the Fellhorn summit cross are binoculars that, when you look through them, label the mountains, and lo and behold, you can even see the Säntis! Breathtaking! I love it!

Beautiful hike on a well-maintained ridge along the German-Austrian border with great views of the Kleinwalsertal and Stillachtal

Nice tour with a lot of panorama 🙂
By bus from Oberstdorf to the Fellhornbahn and back by bus from the Söllereckbahn

Today's hiking tour started at the summit station of the Fellhorn. Short ascent to the Fellhorn summit and then via the ridge path, which also runs pretty much exactly along the German/Austrian border, along to the Söllereckbahn mountain station.
The descent from Schlappolteck is not quite as perfect, but the way to there with great views.

Quite a demanding tour for a lowland Tyrolean like me. But every view, every “intermediate peak” reached makes up for the effort. It's better to stop and look around - it's worth it. Sticks help!!! Not safe in wet weather and with unsuitable footwear - especially if you start the tour at Fellhorn.

With fantastic weather (18 ° C and sunny) we took the bus to the Söllereckbahn this morning and with it to the summit station, the starting point of our today's tour. Up to the Sölleckeralm it was initially a comfortable warm run on a moderate incline. From there a beautiful path, steeply uphill, so that we got overheated quite quickly. …

Easy hike along the wide ridge. Unfortunately, in terms of width and exclamations, the path partly resembles a motorway.
The great views of the surrounding mountain panorama make up for this.

Start today at the Söllereck mountain station.
A farm road took us about 1.5 km further up the mountain. Very nice view from this into the Oberstdorf region😍. From the Sölleralpe it was a steep, serpentine path uphill🥵.
When we reached the ridge we were completely blown away by the view 🔭👀🏔️🏔️🏔️🏞️🏞️🏞️!
So we had to take a break🧀🍖🥖🥤 before …
