This superb loop immerses you in very varied landscapes, each more authentic than the last. Along the way, you discover the cultural heritage of the island while exploring a true natural setting made up of salt marshes, wild creeks, then enchanted forest.

The route begins in the town center of Noirmoutier-en-l’île before quickly heading to the Jacobsen pier. This pretty towpath connects the port to the Müllembourg ornithological reserve.

Then, the route continues to follow the coastline before arriving at the charming Plage des Dames with its pier and its lighthouse, one of the oldest in Vendée. You continue towards the village of Vieil and its typical architecture of the island. You then cross the agricultural plains to arrive at Herbaudière, where a fishing port and a marina are located next to each other.

The end of the route crosses one of the most emblematic sites: the salt pans. In total, they cover a third of the island's surface area. Over the centuries, humans have shaped these territories and developed ancestral know-how to exploit 100% natural salt.

This beautiful walk ends in the center of Noirmoutier-en-l'île, at the foot of its fort, the first traces of which date back to 830. The town has a certain number of shops and restaurants to wonderfully round off this beautiful island discovery.

Went for another bike ride because I saw a nice color for the shutters somewhere... 🙈we want to continue tackling the walls, woodwork and doors at home, but what do you do for a new color scheme... we completely agree that it should be lighter... so we cycled a few more kilometers today.

A bike ride on the northernmost point of ile de Noirmoutier. Lovely weather today, sun with clouds, enjoyed this almost everywhere quiet holiday island.
