This route was planned by komoot.
I had saved this hike in the Eichsfeld for a long time, but today I finally put it into practice. I started the tour at the hiking car park below the Scharfenstein Castle. There is another possibility in Kreuzebra. However, in retrospect I'm not sure if I shouldn't rename the tour to "On the road with a hobby botanist 🌼🌷 with ambitions for entomology 🦋🐝". But since I really hardly know my way around 🤷♂️ and let Google Lens help me determine it, please tell me if I'm wrong somewhere 🙂. If someone should follow the tour, it should be said that the off-grid sections shown by Komoot are not.
Hiked my end-of-year tour today: Scharfenstein Castle with three Touringen stamps: #336 - Scharfenstein Castle #337 - Beautiful view of Herrenberg # 338 - Steinhagen Chapel Overall, a nice little round with very good paths. I wish all Komootlers a healthy new year 2024 with many new tours. It's always nice to look at them and they serve as inspiration for your own.
Before my volunteer work for the Landesgartenschau in Leinefelde completely takes me over in my function as path warden, I quickly did a control round. Most of it was in order and what was striking was the abundance of wild garlic on the right and left of the hiking trail. I will probably never get used to the extension of the Burg Scharfenstein.
Today I went on a guided tour with Matthias on a trail for which I am responsible as a trail warden. There was little criticism from the group regarding the trail's markings and condition.
After all the autumn activities (German Hiking Day, grape harvest and almost 4 weeks of long-distance travel) are over, I was out and about again today in my role as path warden. The top hiking trail "Scharfenstein" lives up to its name. No complaints. Compared to the lush green in 🇦🇺 where it is now spring, the beautiful autumnal deciduous forest looks very different. There were just no more mushrooms 🍄🟫.
TOP hiking trail - Scharfenstein (Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park) ------------------------------ "Quality Trail Wanderable Germany" https://www.eichsfeld.de/top-wanderweg-sharpenstein ------------------------------ Touringen stamp offices: > 336 - Castle Scharfenstein > 337 - Beautiful view of Herrenberg > 338 - Chapel Steinhagen ------------------------------
The current situation regarding the top of the hiking trail is not justified.

Continuing through the forest, you soon come to the abandoned village
