Highlight • Historical Site

Relics of one of the many small natural harbors. In the Middle Ages large herring markets were held here and the herring fishermen landed their catch in these small natural harbours.

Trail Reviews

What can I say? WOW!!!! Once again totally surprised, overwhelmed and fascinated! Started from the campsite, then walked along the water for a while and was impressed by the rock formations, the power of the waves and the heather fields, there is just so much to discover and observe. After a break with a view of Hammershus, we had a short coffee break at Hammerhafen and then we went into the forest, the former granite quarry and along the lakes. Simply beautiful! There were such beautiful views again and again, I constantly wanted to take photos of something, but the photos can only give a first impression, the reality is so much more beautiful!!

I can't contain myself: one of the most beautiful, varied, but also most challenging hikes of my life! The dominant colors are yellow = broom and blue = water. First past a few lakes, the second part, with the wind at my back, on the cliffs high above the Baltic Sea around the northernmost part of Bornholm. In between, a few scrambles on all fours; turning back was impossible. The landscape reminded me of so many others: Switzerland, La Palma, the Rocky Mountains, and also the south. It's unbelievable that fruit trees grow right on the coast. I had to clear the path for sheep 🐑 🐑 🐑, goats 🐐 🐐 🐐 lazily sunned themselves on the rocks, but the highlight was an emerald salamander, which, according to initial research, has no business being here at all! Thanks to komoot, whose tour I did here!

A beautiful route, the nature and the views are unique. Be sure to stop at the kiosk in Hammerhafen, we fell in love with the St. Clemens sandwich there, it's so delicious. You have to wait a bit, but it's freshly prepared. AND there are public/free toilets in Hammerhafen 👍

Today we did THE hike on Bornholm. First uphill to get beautiful views of the Opal Lake and then from Sandvig we walked a very beautiful hiking trail along the coast.

Great hike in beautiful nature with many views

What a varied tour. Vertical rock faces, narrow paths and steep ascents and descents. Again and again views of the Baltic Sea, the Hammersee and a few smaller lakes 😍. An encounter with curious goats and a raven black mink. Sometimes you could only guess the way because heavy rain had washed away the tracks during the night. But we always enjoyed the wonderful views from high up on the sea and then again right next to the Baltic Sea.

Hammerkunden is Bornholm's northernmost corner. Consisting of granite, it was formed and shaped by wind and weather. And the glacier ice has also left its mark here. I'll take a look at that on a little hike. Counterclockwise I follow the blue dot, the waymarker of the Hammeren Rundt. The loop starts at Sandvig Bay. Already here I am fascinated by the bizarre rocks that characterize the coast. At the beginning it is quite easy on a paved path along the coast, but as I pass a wooden gate, the hike begins to become more adventurous. Over stone (and less stick) I make my way along the coast. Despite this harsh world, a chapel was built here for the herring fishermen in the 13th century. But only part of the walls of Solomon's chapel remain. The small ruins are right on the hiking trail, so you can't miss them. Rather, I have to be careful not to miss the hiking trail. As a result of the strong erosion processes, the path is sometimes unknowable or collapsed. Here it says: Where is the blue dot? Finally the first part of the circumnavigation is done and I look at Hammer Havn and Hammershus, where I was a few hours ago. The second half of the tour goes up again. At the highest point, where I am surrounded by granite rocks, I look down on Opalsø and Hammer Sø. Deep blue lakes that probably formed from the remains of an opencast mine. In any case, I assume that granite was once mined here. Both the lakes themselves and the steep walls that border directly on the lakes look man-made. The last meters of the Hammeren Rundt are downhill and then along Hammeren Sø. Across a meadow with cows I can once again marvel at granite rocks to my left before returning to the starting point. Because of a feeling of hunger, I continue the tour to the port, where I get a very tasty pizza at Basta Pizza. With a full stomach and a post-hiking happy feeling, I head back to my sleeping place.

The Hammerknuden Rundt ... I'm still totally flashed 😍🤩👌🏻👍🏻 really an absolute hammer round and basically a single highlight. Just impressive and breathtaking from start to finish and at the end the part above the Opalsee is the icing on the cake! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you are here on Bornholm ... definitely to be recommended!
