The landscape on this tour is green and mysterious. In addition, there is the view of a place steeped in history. You are on a ridge in the hinterland of the town of ʻAiea - parallel to the Halawa Valley. Depending on the weather, the path can be muddy.
It starts at the parking lot on Aiea Heights Drive. Don't be surprised if the air has a slight citrus note. In the late 1920s, large parts of the area were replanted, including with lemon eucalyptus trees. Native koa and ohi'a trees also line the path. At several points along the path you look out over the coast and there are views of Pearl Harbor - the harbor that was attacked by Japanese fighter planes in World War II. You can also see Diamond Head (Le'ahi), the great landmark of Hawaii.
Since the hike is a circular tour, you can enjoy completely new views on the way back, for example of the Halawa Valley with its rough and rugged landscape.
