This 100-kilometre (62 mi) loop guides you through the roads of Val d'Arly via the Col des Aravis. It’s a scenic route which unveils wide panoramas of the high Alpine massifs.
This Tour begins at Annecy station, easily accessible from Lyon or Geneva, and heads towards Thônes, at the crossroads of the Aravis valleys. We’d recommend taking a break here to explore this charming town.
The route then ascends gradually, initially to Saint-Jean-de-Sixt, followed by La Clusaz, and finally reaching the Col des Aravis located at 1,487 metres (4,870 ft). Along the way, two inns are located by the roadside, offering a perfect opportunity to take a break and enjoy the panoramic view of the Pointe des Aravis.
The long descent towards Flumet is delight, tracing the Gorge de l’Arrondine. The route veers towards the Beaufortain side, passing through Crest-Volant before reaching Ugine.
The return journey to Annecy follows the Belle Via cycle route (V62) before taking the cycle path that skirts Lake Annecy. Take a moment to relax by the water’s edge before concluding your adventure in the city centre where you can treat yourself to a well-deserved ice cream!
