This route leads through the landscapes of Haute-Savoie, exploring the small village of Le Reposoir and the slopes of the Col de Romme, familiar terrain for Tour de France cyclists.
Starting at Cluses station, reachable in just under an hour and ten minutes by TER from Annecy, the first part of the climb follows the road to the Col de la Colombière, a legendary pass often frequented by Tour riders.
After 12 kilometres (7 mi), the route pauses in Le Reposoir. This village is renowned for its Carmel, a historic Chartreuse monastery founded by the monk John of Spain, which serves as a waypoint at the foot of the Colombière and Romme passes.
The route then ascends towards the Col de Romme, reaching 1,297 metres (4,255 ft). The descent passes through Nancy-sur-Cluses and its green surroundings, before returning to Cluses. Located in the heart of the Arve Valley, the town is home to the Watchmaking and Turning Museum, which showcases the centuries-old know-how of time measurement techniques and the intricate world of precision. Building upon this rich industrial history, Cluses remains at the forefront of innovation with its resource and expertise centre.
