The summit of Haleakala volcano is at 3,055 m (10,055 ft). We drove up to watch the sunset, but unfortunately it was cloudy. I then climbed into the crater to Split Rock. It was foggy most of the way, but for about 5 minutes, the view of the crater landscape opened up, magnificent👍👍👍👍 Just before the parking lot, the wind whistled with heavy rain, and it was only 40 degrees Fahrenheit (4 degrees Celsius). Angie waited in the car the whole time.
