The diversity of Galicia makes it famous for many facets. O Grove, in particular, attracts many people for its fine sand beaches, but here is also hidden one of the most beautiful trails in the Galician community.
The Pedras Negras Trail is perfect if what you are looking for is to walk by the sea and learn some information about the history of the place. The first part of the itinerary runs along wooden walkways and, later, moves on to a dirt path that takes you to the same point where you started. Along the way, you will see stones of all shapes and sizes.
In the end, you arrive at the O Grove military battery, which hides a great anecdote: in the 1950s, in the midst of the Cold War, the Americans described it as one of the most efficient defense systems that existed.
We recommend the hottest months to venture to O Grove. This way, you will avoid the rain and you can take a swim in the Atlantic. If you need to use public transport, there are buses from Vigo and Pontevedra.
