Extended Greifensee-Lützelsee loop

The Lützelsee extended is a super beautiful, scenic circular tour in the shape of a figure eight. You can see the local mountain of the Zurich Oberland, the Bachtel, almost all the way around and, if the weather is good, the Glarus Alps are within reach. Typical of the Zurich Oberland: It's always up and down. A real highlight are the numerous farm shops along the route.

It starts in Greifensee at the large car park in the town, which has wheelchair parking spaces. From here you drive around the northern tip of the Greifensee and then along its shore towards the south. The two loops of the figure eight cross in Mönchaltorf. This gives you the opportunity to shorten the tour here if you feel like it or if the weather is no longer playing along.

Otherwise, you drive via Esslingen to the Lützelsee, which marks the outermost point of the tour. From here it goes in a beautiful arc back to Mönchaltorf and then on to the Greifensee. You roll back to the starting point of the tour directly along the shore.

This route is recommended to you by a local handbike enthusiast and leads largely along cycle paths and side roads with little traffic. It is not particularly difficult and has only a few short (but steep) climbs. You can stop off or stock up on provisions along the way in Gossau at the Bichhof Beizli, at the Lützelsee Lädeli Hombrechtikon or at the Wiederkehr farm shop in Schwerzenbach. There are barrier-free toilets in the immediate vicinity of the starting point at the Ländlihölzliweg.
