This sophisticated sounding tour on and around the Pfannenstiel starts and ends in Zollikon. An alternative name for this tour could also be “Tour of the Observation Towers”, as there are two particularly magnificent ones on your way. A bike lock is definitely a must for anyone with a head for heights. So you can enjoy the panorama from above without any worries.
After starting in Zollikon, follow the road to Küsnacht. From there you drive through the Küsnachtertobel, an idyllic stream valley surrounded by the deep green of the forest. Up to the Pfannenstiel you only ride on asphalt to get from one gravel section to the next. Once you've climbed to the highest point of the panhandle, you've done the sweaty part.
After a short rest at the Forchdenkmal, the climb to the Loorenkopfturm requires your lowest gear ratio again, but the climbing is definitely over after that. You can now only go back to the starting point downhill - with a smile on your face.
