The Wallerseerunde is an easy-to-drive circular tour and takes you through the varied and beautiful nature of the region. Most of the time you cycle right next to the lake, but you also pass the Wenger Moor and have great views of the lake and the Alpine panorama from the surrounding fields.

You start your tour at the lido in Seekirchen. You can park here and jump into the lake again at the end of your tour. But first of all it's time to pedal! It is not far to the natural bathing beach Wallersee. Here you can leave your bike for a moment and test the lake water.

On the next section you briefly lose sight of the lake and reach the Wengermoor through the Zellermoos. Leave your bike behind again, because you can only reach the observation tower in the moor on foot via a footbridge. If you look carefully, you can spot rare moor plants such as cotton grass or a sundew along the way. With great views of the Alps and the Watzmann, you drive back to the lake and reach the east bay. You will find cafes and restaurants around the small harbor.

You are now on your way back along the east bank of the lake and are spoiled for choice. In Henndorf the lido invites you to take your next break and in Seekirchen there is also a lido waiting for you. No matter what you decide, it is important that you pack swimwear for this tour.

If you are hungry for hearty delicacies during or after the tour, we can recommend the snail and fish restaurant Neumarkt, the Seeheuriger and the Gasthof Fischtagging on Wallersee as well as the Holznerwirt and the Neuwirt in Eugendorf. For sweets and provisions, check out Café Schweiger, the Biohof Almannsgrub and the Dorfbox and Spar Putz in Eugendorf.

Natural swimming beach at Wallersee

Highlight • Beach

Admission free! And there is also a really beautiful beach that is so well maintained that plants and animals still feel comfortable here. Ideal for a short stop to cool off or a longer break to enjoy nature. The nearby campsite also has a beach volleyball court, a playground and a beach buffet with food and drinks.

Wenger Moor Viewing Platform

Highlight • Viewpoint

From here you can go to the viewing platform. It's best to leave your bike standing. In the raised moor you will find many unusual plants that only grow in very humid areas, such as cotton grass and the “carnivorous” sundew. But please stay on the paths because the moor is very fragile and there are only a few of them left.

Henndorf Lake Beach

Highlight • Beach

Family-friendly pool with trees, a lovely paddling pool for the little ones, good access to the lake and platforms for children learning to swim. There is an island for climbing, sliding and frolicking in the lake. You can also rent boards. The catering could be better, at least there is something to eat and drink.

Seekirchen Lakeside Beach

Highlight • Beach

The Seekirchen lido offers a well-tended sunbathing lawn and gently sloping access directly to the Wallersee. It's free, only the parking lot is charged. Wheels have to be left on the stands outside. At the lake restaurant you sit with a beautiful view of the lido.

The starting point of the circular route around the Wallersee was the parking lot at the Fischtagging restaurant, where you can also eat very well. We continue along the bank to the right.

Nice bike path around the Wallersee and what I'm good at are the freely accessible beaches. Karten can learn something from that.

Today we arrived in Seekirchen am Wallersee for our holiday and wanted to take a quick walk around the lake. We wanted to eat at the Schneckenrestaurant directly opposite. We checked beforehand whether they were open and off we went. We arrived and unfortunately they were fully booked! Then we continued on and just before Seekirchen we found another restaurant …

Beginning of the Schützinger cycling week in the Salzburg and Upper Austrian lake districts.
After arrival, we are 10 people and we have a little room to warm up around the Wallersee. Wonderful weather and a pleasant 23 degrees.

First trip together around the lake in relatively warm temperatures 👍🙂
