This route was planned by komoot.
Despite the rain, I set out to look at the colorful Darßer Doors on this tour suggested by the tourist information center. And it was worth it, they brought some color into the gray outside.
We wanted to stop at the Teeschale restaurant again on the last day of our holiday, and the Haustürenpfad (Doorway Path) with its beautiful Darss doors was the perfect place to do so. It had been on our list for a while.
After a long day on the highway, we start our vacation with a walk along the Prerow Door Path. The Darß doorways are not only a popular postcard motif, but also a colorful testament to old craftsmanship. They date back to the heyday of sailing ships in the mid-19th century and tell of a time when prosperity and tradition were closely intertwined. Now we can only hope that the weather will become somewhat more settled in the coming days.
I came across this topic somewhere on Komoot, so I got on the bus and headed to Prerow. Start/Finish: "Alter Bahnhof" bus stop This is already listed under the historical buildings and served as a train station until 1945. The path then leads past the Seaman's Church, the oldest place of worship on the Darß. You can find pictures of the interior on the tour "Darßer Ort" A visit is highly recommended. 👍 My first destination was the tourist information office. Here I got the brochure "Historic Prerow". If you don't want to take part in a guided tour, you will find many historical buildings and many of the so-called Darßer front doors listed in this one. 🏠🏡 It contains a short explanation of the buildings. That way you won't wander aimlessly through the town 😉. I followed the route that I had saved in advance. With more time and the knowledge of the brochure, there would probably have been one or two more detours. This way I was able to admire most of the front doors. Richly decorated, brightly painted, they probably also contain a hidden mystical symbolism. ☀️ and 🌹🌷 stand for joie de vivre, for example. My conclusion is that it is unreservedly recommended. There are also a number of restaurants, cafés and other 😉🍦 along the way where you can stop for a while. https://www.ostseebad-prerow.de
