View of the Gasometer Oberhausen

Highlight • Viewpoint

You can see the Gasometer wonderfully when you cycle along the beautiful Rhein-Herne Canal. It's a really nice route. It is also very beautiful when the sun glitters on the Rhine-Herne Canal. The gasometer can be seen from afar.

The listed headframe above Shaft 1 and the associated shaft hall today serve as a reminder of the former Sterkrade mine. The foundation took over the industrial monument in 1997.

August 9, 2024,RevierRoute "RuheRäume - Natur erfahren"
Many thanks to WDR, who recently presented the new district routes. Today's tour took us from Oberhausen Sterkrade via Bottrop to Dinslaken and back to OB Sterkrade. The title "Experience peace" hits the nail on the head, lots of greenery, lots of peace, little traffic and great former railway lines.

This is a tour of the routes of radrevier.ruhr. It runs over disused railway lines, picturesque river paths, impressive industrial monuments and wide views from redeveloped hills.
Only I can't show any photos because the map of my camera gave up on the third day of this mini vacation.
We started this tour from Orsoy, (the Hafenplatz parking lot at …

A detailed tour report on this beautiful autumn tour with the ROSE XTRA WATT EVO+ 3 Unisex up to the Haniel heap and to the new Emscher estuary in Dinslaken can be found at mein-ruhrgebiet.blog/mit-ein-wenig-xtra-watt -up-to-the-heap-haniel/

The tour is from the komoot collection "Regional Routes in the radrevier.ruhr."
The "Parkplatz am Bunker" (Parking Lot at the Bunker) is free.

The route is a bit bumpy up to the Gasometer. After that, it's easy-going.

We cycled up to the Haniel slag heap because it was on the way: a wonderful panoramic view of the (green) Ruhr area!

Today the wind came from the side, was also 💩💩🌬
But on the Rhine dyke again all alone, at lunchtime.

My first spontaneous tour.
It was really nice and varied. Most of it was very shady.
The path is very easy to drive
In some places it was a little muddy or there was gravel.
Few streets.

After our great tour on the border crossing route (1-3), we tried out the new "RuheRäume" area route today - and that was the right decision! In wonderful weather and a steel-blue sky, we enjoyed the beauty of nature in the countryside for around 64 km. The original route is 53 km.

The Rhine low water, the Emscher estuary almost dry, the Rotbach much dried up. It's frightening when you see all this .🤔🤔😂😂

Since 2024, we have had a new cycle route in the Ruhr area called "RuheRäume". This 53-kilometer-long route leads through beautiful nature and past unique sights.

It starts at the train station in Oberhausen-Sterkrade. From there, you roll to the Oberhausen Gasometer and continue on the Jacobibahn railway
