The 2,224 meter high summit of the Wildkogel is easy to reach and offers you an incredible all-round view of the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Kitzbühel Alps. This tour is ideal for a panoramic hike with sure-footed children. From Neukirchen am Großvenediger, which you can also reach by train, you can take the Wildkogelbahn high up. When you arrive at the mountain station, the first wonderful views, a large children's playground and a restaurant await you.
A wide gravel path leads you to the ski arena reservoirs, where the Smaragdbahn mountain station is also located. This offers an alternative starting point - its valley station is in Bramberg. The slightly steeper climb then begins on a mountain path to the Wildkogel summit. From the summit cross your view wanders over, among other things, the 3,000 meter peaks of the Hohe Tauern National Park, the Großglockner, the Wilder Kaiser, the Steinerne Meer, the Dachstein and the Zillertal Alps. After a rest, we return along the same path to the starting point at the mountain station.

In bad weather (at least at 2000m) we went up to the Wildkogel. Again and again the clouds released a few views of the surrounding mountains, so it was still a nice little hike.
