The departure sets the tone for the route since it takes place in Senonches, whose forest is one of the main ones in Perche. Before heading north to explore the northern end of the regional park, or even leave it, a trip to the famous forest is essential. You follow in the footsteps of the ancient people of the Carnutes who inhabited the place during the time of the Gauls.

Once this first loop is completed and the center of Senonches has been visited, in particular its castle, you leave for the main loop of 80 kilometers. You notice that you are moving away from the heart of the park with the terrain becoming flatter. You head deeper into the Eure and travel through the valleys of the department, notably that of Avre.

At the edge of the river, you turn around, this time heading south. You arrive at La Ferté-Vidame, which marks your return to the edge of the Senonches forest. After two thirds of the route, you can take a break in this town to admire the ruined castle and rest in its park. It is then time to return through the forest, interspersed with a few fields and ponds to vary the pleasures.

The Château de Saint-Simon dates from the 14th century and was the residence of the famous memoirist Louis de Rouvroy, Duke of Saint-Simon. You can admire the ruins of the castle, as well as the outbuildings (the "little castle"), which are still preserved and classified as historic monuments. You can enjoy panoramic views of the park and ponds surrounding the castle, and explore the surrounding forest and trails. The Château de Saint-Simon is a place where you can immerse yourself in the history and culture of France, and discover the life and writings of one of its most influential authors.
