Circular walk Kloosterhotel ZIN in Vught – Our Monastery Path

Welcome to Our Kloosterpad! This day walk along the unique path past the monasteries of Central and East Brabant starts and ends at monastery hotel ZIN in Vught. Along the way you will pass various highlights during 12.6 kilometers.

Kloosterhotel ZIN is located in an old monastery, and you can still feel the peace, relaxation and reflection of the past here. The monastery was a rest home for elderly brothers for decades. In the early 1990s, however, the monastery was no longer sufficient as a comfortable resting place and was even in danger of being demolished. It was the brothers' wish to find a new purpose for it that was in line with their way of life. And so it happened, because as a guest in the hotel you stay according to the norms and values of the time.

The route first takes you along the edge of Vught, through Zorgpark Voorburg and the lovely Reeburgpark. While you enjoy the greenery here, Leeuwenstein Castle looms before you. The current charming house as you see it here dates from 1901, but the original Leeuwenstein was built in 1753. Take a seat on a bench by the water and be enchanted by the decor.

You continue walking to the Woeste Stilte, which marks the beginning of the Bossche Broek nature reserve. You will not enter this area today, but from here you will enjoy the view of the beautiful nature that borders directly on Den Bosch. After this you walk through the Sterrenbosch, a small but nice forest and you pass a special farm. Out-Herlaer Farm consists of the walls of the castle of the same name that used to stand here. The castle was located on the Dommel, the river that is never far away for the next few kilometers.

Once you have crossed the Dommel and walked through the beautiful and natural Bleijendijk estate, monastery hotel ZIN is not far away.

You can reach the starting point of the route in Vught by train, because Vught has its own train station. Are you coming by car? You park in the parking lot at ZIN. Please note: do not turn onto the unpaved Kettingweg, but take the Boxtelseweg.
