This route was planned by komoot.
The trail is even more exciting with all the foliage because you can't really see the ground.
Early October 23. Summer day, warm and quite clear. Very long climb on asphalt up to Capanna Lo Stallone and here, surprise, a MTB Trial called Cardada begins: very well-kept, very clean and technically clean only in some points where they are still completing the work. At the exit of the route the road leads back to Locarno, winding through dream villas and breathtaking views. 8 38%
The ascent to Alp Cartada is easy to ride (mostly tarmac, some dirt roads and a flowing trail at the end). The ascent is long and mostly steep (without electricity, strong calves and thighs or the cable car from Orselina are recommended 😉). After a snack at Alp Cartada, the Cartada trail makes up for the strenuous ascent. Around 600 Tm must now be covered 😀. The trail is very beautifully laid out, and in my opinion also requires riding skills (not for occasional bikers). It's a shame that the trail ends in Val Resa and doesn't continue any further 😢 - there are still enough Tm to be covered - unfortunately on tarmac roads.
Carcada to Brione is a challenging single trail. It is being built in sections. The gaps between the newly laid stones are not yet overgrown. Accordingly, it shakes you through. An excavator blocked the entire width of the path. The bikes have to be carried around and over it 😵💫 The time specified by Komoot may be correct for very experienced and daredevil bikers 🤪
Gardada Trail is currently being expanded, it's going to be flowy coooool👏💪
Cool tour of two mediocre E-MTBs. Easily doable on the long climb with Eco support. The downhill route is well developed and easily accessible for MTB riders who are not particularly saddle-steady (S0 to S1). And after the climb, we recommend a refreshment stop at Capanna Lo Stallone.
Fun trail, contains rocky and flowing passages. At the end of the Cardada Trail, turn right onto the hiking trail, challenging trail towards Locarno.
The classic of the Locarno tours: Beautiful, also somewhat demanding, promising tour with a shorter and two longer singletrals, whereby the Cardada Trail is a bit treacherous today because of the many fallen leaves. In addition, round over the Cimetta, which is definitely worth it.
