Gravel riding

On this tour, two beautiful passes near Livigno are on the gravel menu. Their names are Alpisella and Trela. You will also pass many lakes, which, together with the magnificent mountains, form a picturesque backdrop.

You start your gravel adventure in Livigno and initially pedal comfortably along Lake Livigno. When you leave the lake, the first long climb of this tour begins. It takes you along wonderful gravel paths into the pretty Alpisella Valley. The only drawback: it gets pretty steep. If you see Lake Alpisella, you've done it. From here you roll easily through this beautiful high valley.

After a rapid descent, we head along the lakeshore. The views of Lake Giacomo and Lake Cancano are simply magnificent. If you would like to stay a little longer in this idyllic area, then I can highly recommend a rest at the Refugio San Giacomo. Here you can treat yourself to delicious local delicacies, recharge your batteries for the journey and soak up the panorama.

The route then continues in a relaxed manner until we reach the turnoff to Vezzola. But then your leg muscles will work hard. The upcoming gravel climb is tough and will demand a lot from you. You will be rewarded with a lonely valley and unforgettable views. This is followed by fine single trails, most of which can be ridden on a gravel bike. Only a few places up to the Trela Pass are tricky, so you may have to push a few meters. You then head back downhill via a beautiful trail descent.

At the end of this round, a small hill and a fun forest trail await you before you return to Livigno with a big grin on your face.

Ascent to Alpisella

Highlight • Climb

Climb divided into two parts: the first part from the lake to the wooden bridge is challenging but not too much; the first bends are steep but then it levels out and is enjoyable. The second part from the bridge to the top of the hill is decidedly challenging; fixed slopes in double figures without ever a moment's rest. The surface is always compact and clean which makes climbing easier.

Located in an enchanting position in the Valle di Fraele, in the heart of the Stelvio National Park, the Ristoro San Giacomo is the ideal place to stop during excursions on foot or by bike. Excellent home cooking and genuine. During the year the opening hours vary according to the seasons.

Decauville Track

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

This splendid, almost flat road connects Arnoga to the last bends of the Fraele towers. Dirt road but probably also passable by racing bike, magnificent views of the glacier overlooking the Val Viola. No technical ability required.
