Circular walk "Misterio Negro". Very nice hiking trail on Terceira. Solid (waterproof) shoes are recommended! Sure-footedness in wet weather absolutely necessary! No "Turnschuhweg" even if others see it that way ...

Small lagoon in a very idyllic position, at the beginning of the Mistérios Negros route. On clear days, the lagoon becomes a true open-air mirror. Here begins the most demanding section of the trail.

It's unbelievable how long it can take to cover a few kilometers!
You quickly learn not to trust the ground, only solid objects such as roots and stones - and some of them have sunk 10-15 cm deep.... It was an experience nonetheless.

Hats off to the people who judge the tour as “easy”. Most of the hikers I met only walked in “first gear”. Including me.

Challenging, partly very wet ground, scree, lots of roots, but maintained with bolts and boards. Well signposted and highly recommended. So I imagine a fairy landscape and then climb over volcanic rock again.
An experience worth hiking.

A very beautiful and varied tour. Challenging, and hiking boots are recommended.

The tour takes you in the center of Terceira past a beautiful lake and the crater rim of a volcano. She is quite demanding. Sturdy shoes and fitness are absolutely necessary. Some sections are steep and rocky. Overall very impressive nature

One of the most beautiful trails in the Azores! No big differences in height, but it is climbing and clambering over roots of trees and stones. Very muddy so walking shoes are definitely recommended! Breathtakingly beautiful. Must do!

Bad weather was forecast for today for days, but it was supposed to be dry all day. You can imagine what happened - it rained almost all day (sometimes very heavily), but we were lucky: we were able to complete most of the planned tours.
I was surprised why this rather short tour with not very many meters of elevation …

Waterproof footwear with good grip is highly recommended.

Is the Mistérios Negros Trail suitable for beginners or families with young children?

The trail is officially rated as difficult due to its technical terrain, including roots, volcanic rocks, and often muddy, slippery conditions.
