Hiking

The wildly romantic Baybach Valley with its waterfalls and deep green slopes invites you to marvel at this ten-kilometer-long dream loop. It starts at the hiking car park near Heyweiler, where you dive straight into the forest. Following a narrow path, you cross the idyllic Buchbachtal and then reach the beautiful Steffenshof rest area. The descent into the shady Baybachklamm begins at Klöckners Kaul.

The narrow path runs directly along the babbling stream and provides a lot of variety with easy “climbing passages”. Halfway along the route, the rustic Schmausemühle invites you to take a well-deserved stop. With new energy you tackle the following climb - first along the Baybach, then along the no less picturesque Frankweiler Bach. From the shady valley we go up to the sunny heights. On the last section of the tour you have the opportunity to enjoy wonderful views over the Baybachtal from the Barreterlei and the Schmausemühlenblick.

Highlight (Segment) • River

A wild valley, romantic and at the same time physically challenging. Sometimes you have to climb a bit, but you can always cool your feet in the stream water. Great fun for adventurous children too.

Very nice circular route in a great area, about 10.5 km long. There are also a few rope-guided climbing inserts 😅, it's really fun 🤩! Nice rest and refreshment opportunities such as the Schmausemühle round off the tour! Class ... 👍😎

Today we had another family tour for a long time, where we took advantage of the great weather again. We ended up in the Hunsrück early in the morning. There we hiked the Saar-Hunsrücksteig through the Baybachklamm. It was a great but challenging tour. You shouldn't plan the tour later in the year, as it was already slippery in some rocky climbing passages today. On this tour you definitely need the right footwear, surefootedness and no fear of short via ferrata. For small children, the tour is quite difficult in some places. After the tour we ended up eating in the Schmausemühle, which is highly recommended. Have fun hiking afterwards!

Crossing this gorge is a special nature experience. Steep climbs, steep descents, mighty rock formations, old tunnels, bat caves, waterfalls and breathtaking views of untouched nature in the wild and romantic Baybachtal. In some steep places, safety ropes help to master the path. This is a very beautiful dream loop of the Saar-Hunsrück Climb.

A grandiose tour that makes every hiker's heart beat faster. 🤗 A clear recommendation, especially in the summer heat! Unfortunately, since my cell phone took a little refreshment in the Baybach (🙈), which led to the battery being drained quite quickly afterwards, the recording could not be finished properly. So I imported the original tour and added my photos. https://www.outdooractive.com/mobile/de/route/wandern/hunsrueck/traumschleife-baybachklamm/1496352/

Today I did a motorcycle tour for a long time and took this great tour with me. A really great lap that you can recommend without reservation. Great landscape paired with partly demanding passages.

Always nice, in the Baybachtal 🥰 and if you start early enough, you won't meet anyone on the way. Really relaxing.

This is what the tour actually looks like. It remains a great, varied tour with a recommended break at the Schmausemühle. The smoked fish and the herb soup with smoked trout taste great.

Wow, the area is fantastic 😍 another great dream loop: very varied in a Baybach valley left to nature. Paths, small climbing passages, gorges, heights and meadows... everything is included. We started the tour at the Schmausermühle, the approach is very narrow and steep. I therefore recommend driving to the Heyweiler car park. Have fun hiking
