This pretty route, accessible to all, takes a loop that goes around Lake Oule. Artificial, it is one of the largest in the Néouvielle reserve. The departure is at the free Artigusse car park, located at around 1,600 meters above sea level.
The first part of the route avoids most of the elevation gain of the route. This portion is on a fairly wide track which winds through a beautiful and dense forest. When the slope softens and the forest becomes less dense, you approach the lake. You discover it when you arrive under its imposing dam.
The first part of the path which goes around it always takes place at the edge of the forest. On the other side of the lake is the Col du Portet, taken by the GR 10. Two kilometers further, you reach a small cabin and a bridge which offer a clear view of the lake. This is where you begin the U-turn towards the starting point.
You are moving on the other side of the lake. Much clearer, it offers pretty panoramas. The tour of the body of water ends at the Oule refuge. Charming and welcoming, it allows a pleasant break near the dam, before starting the descent towards the Artigusse car park.
