Hunthoof Pike Cairn

Highlight • Summit

Hardly a 'pike' since a pike is supposed to be a pointed hill or a mountain; this looks nothing like it, but no matter: there is a cairn up here, and it's a great place to stop, marvel at the beauty of the world while looking at Howgill Fells, particularly at Green Bell a short distance to the south from there.

The hill is a bit to the west from the path, but it's all on grass here, so, as the Scottish people would say, it's "nae bother".

Green Bell Summit

Highlight • Summit

Green Bell (605m) is one of the highest summits in the northern Howgills. Probably the most obvious other hill to see from here is Randyhill Top to the south-west and Knoutsberry, immediately to the east, but it is beautiful in any direction from here, and one doesn't quite know what to pay attention the most to.

Randygill Top

Highlight • Summit

There is not much that appears "randy" about Randygill Top (624m), although the view from up here is likely going to excite you! Grere Fell, Wandale Hill can be seen from here, and the sight of Hazel Gill in Bowderdale is a very pretty one, too.

Hooksey

Highlight • Summit

There is some debate whether Hooksey is this place here on the ridge between Bowderdale and Weasdale or a little further south. Maps show the same name in the two locations... I suppose, two are better than one!

No matter. There are great views of Green Bell from here, and to Smardale, North Pennines and the Lakes!

Warning: although grassy only with no scrambling or anything, the ascent/descent to here from Weasdale is rather steep!
