Experience life on Vlieland - Indulge in the beach tent all year round

Wear warm and waterproof clothing when it is cold and stormy, or pack your swimming gear when it is warm and the sun shines brightly. You will travel more than 10.5 kilometers through the woods and along the sea of Vlieland. You will of course end the day with a delicious snack and drink on the beach.

You will travel along fresh green forest paths, past serene ponds where frogs croak noisily, towards the Vlieland lighthouse. The lighthouse itself is small, but the view from the lighthouse is great! The tower stands on a high dune, but the breathtaking views at the top are well worth the climb. From some places it seems like you are on the Mediterranean Sea, as the boats float on the beautiful water in the distance.

After this, you descend towards the Waddendijk, where you stroll along the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Wadden Sea. This sea is of enormous value to nature and a perfect habitat for the seal. So look over the water regularly, because who knows, you might see one!

Via viewpoints and enchanting forest paths you will find your way back to the start and end point of the walk, beach pavilion 't Badhuys. It has been a while since 't Badhuys was named the best beach pavilion in the Netherlands in 2017, but it is still a good place to stay. You can enjoy breakfast, lunch, drinks or dinner here all year round, while enjoying one of the most beautiful views of the island. This is a magical place, especially at sunset!

You are not allowed to take your car to Vlieland, so unless you are an islander, you cannot come to the beach pavilion by car. You can take the bus to the Strandhotel Seeduyn stop, or you can hop on your bike! Of course you first take the boat from Harlingen Haven to Vlieland.
