Hiking

Wear warm and waterproof clothing when it is cold and stormy, or pack your swimming gear when it is warm and the sun shines brightly. You will travel almost 9 kilometers through the dune landscape of Egmond aan Zee. Continue the beach vibes after the walk with your feet in the sand or by the wood stove at Evi Beach.

If you are in a coastal town, a visit to the local lighthouse should not be missed. The first stop on the route is the Egmond lighthouse. At the lighthouse, and also further from the Torensduin, you have a beautiful view of the town, the dunes, and the North Sea.

After this, you enter the dune reserve near Egmond, which is part of one of the largest nature reserves in our country, the North Holland Dune Reserve. To walk in the dune reserve, you need a dune map. You can buy it here: https://www.pwn.nl/natuur/duinkaart

You climb and descend on sandy paths past idyllic dune lakes and sea buckthorns. There is a good chance that Scottish highlanders will accompany you here and there on your journey!

Those who have energy can make an extra climb here and there to the top of various viewpoints. If you take the walk in April/May, you will have a beautiful view from certain points over the flowering bulb fields in the area.

History enthusiasts will visit the bunker museum just before settling down at the beach tent. The bunker is part of a Castricum defense structure from WWII, which would be used in the event of a possible Allied invasion. Check the opening hours in advance so that you can be sure that you can visit the historic building.

Then it's time for a well-deserved refreshment at Evi Beach! The nice beach bar is open all year round. This means that in the summer you can enjoy the beach vibes from a beach bed with a smoothie or cold wine, and in the winter you can sit down by the wood stove with a hot chocolate after a long walk on the beach to warm up.

You can park in one of Egmond's parking lots. There are several close to Evi Beach. Are you coming by public transport? Then you get off at the Egmond aan Zee bus stop, Boulevard Noord.

From the dune in the middle of the town there is a beautiful view over Egmond to the sea, but also over the dune belts in the south and north of the town.

Dune Lakes Trail

Highlight • Trail

It's wonderful to hike through this still quite barren landscape in March. Fascinating are the many lakes hidden behind sea buckthorn bushes and grass, the crooked trees, the clouds...🤩🥰🤩

June 15, 2024,🇳🇱 Egmond aan Zee: nördlich und südlich durch die Dünen 🌾💨
After breakfast ☕️🥐🍯 we waited for a few rain showers 🌧️ and didn't set off until midday. This wonderful dune landscape looks even better against a blue sky and sun ☀️. The wind 💨 was blowing hard. We did get a heavy shower, but were able to take shelter under the eaves of a small hut. 😀 We dried out …
