Hever Castle Gardens and Lake

Highlight • Historical Site

Fairly expensive to visit but lovely grounds with woodland and lakeside walk. Can hire rowing boats or pedallos on the lake. The castle was the childhood home of Ann Boleyn.

A walk around the lake is very beautiful. At the end of the lake is a small waterfall, the lake's outlet.

In 1903, the British-American millionaire William Waldorf Astor acquired the estate along with 51 hectares of land, which he extensively restored and rebuilt in a pseudo-medieval style. A small village located outside the moat was also rebuilt and expanded in the pseudo-Tudor style.
The large lake, incidentally, was dug by hand by 800 workers.
An impressive park.👍
